Let's Talk About Wicked: For Good!
I couldn't wait to see Wicked: For Good in theaters! I saw it twice in one week!
And, no surprise, I cried at the end – also twice!
My husband Keith and I, along with our supportive church friends, wore our Wicked Truth t-shirts to support this site and its message: the real wicked truth is the scapegoating that fuels a myth of redemptive violence!
Have you gotten to see the film yet? Are you planning to see the movie in the theaters, or wait for streaming at home? If you have gotten to see it, what did you think?
If you do have thoughts–or don't mind a spoiler-filled conversation! – I want to invite you to sit in on a Facebook Live chat I'll be doing with my friend Lyle Enright. He's a fellow scholar of scapegoating and the ways it shows up in popular culture.
Together, Lyle and I will react to the new Wicked film as it picks up right after Elphaba and Glinda's traumatizing audience with the Wizard. We'll discuss their diverging paths, and whether we believe they really do end up "for good" in the end.
We'll be going live on Monday, December 8 at 2 PM Eastern! We'd love for you to join us!
LET'S TALK ABOUT WICKED: FOR GOOD!
Join us on Monday, December 8, at 2PM Eastern on Facebook Live!
In the meantime, I should have some book updates for all of you soon! Also be on the lookout: Next year, we'll be launching the Wicked Truth podcast, Third Things First! In these conversations with real, grassroots peacebuilders, you'll get to see how the "wicked truth" we talk about in this newsletter shows up in the real lives and work of some truly profound individuals. I can't wait to share their stories with you!
Till next time, remember to always mourn the wicked. It’s what good people do.
